Lealean has been performing live music for the last 20+ years.
He has performed as a drummer with artists including Bobby Bare
and Ronnie Milsap. His current band BIG SKY, has opened shows
for artists including Ty Herndon, Ty England, The Dixie Chicks,
Restless Heart, Charlie Daniels, Neal McCoy, Emilio, and many
more.
Lealean began concentrating on writing commercially about 5 years
ago and has been fortunate enough to secure single song publishing
deals with Nashville and Austin publishing companies including
SDB Music, South Beach Music, and Perro Rojo Music.
He recently received honorable mention from the San Diego Songwriter's
Guild for their annual songwriting contest, and has received first,
second, third and honorable mention in various categories of ASG
songwriting contests.
Lealean was born in Dallas and now makes his home in Jarrell,
Texas. He began playing percussion around the age of six and started
playing professionally at the age of thirteen. Between the ages
of 14 and 16, he played six nights a week in the house band at
the now defunct Austin club, "The Side Saddle".
Through the years, Lealean has had the good fortune to have performed
as a member of the band with both RONNIE MILSAP and BOBBY BARE.
His own bands have opened shows for Restless Heart, Emilio, Gary
Allen, Ty Herndon, Ty England, Shenandoah and many more. In addition,
Lealean hasperformed as a studio musician on more than 20 albums
as well as producing five albums for various Austin-area artists.For
the past 5 years, Lealean has pursued his love of songwriting
and has been lucky enough to win quite a few song-writing contests.
He has secured publishing deals with Perro Rojo Music (owned by
George Strait's steel guitarist, Mike Daily) and other Nashville
music publishers. He travels regularly to Nashville to pitch songs
to record labels, A & R staff and publishing companies.
Lealean co-owns a publishing company and is a member of the Board
of Directors for the ASG. In 1999, he recorded
his own debut album.
