Philadelphia-born acoustic
artist Sharon Bousquet is a gifted singer, writer and guitarist,
able to surf the musical web between jazzy blues, contemporary folk,
acoustic rock and other pop forms to arrive at a sound uniquely
her own. She has a powerful voice, both musically and as a published
poet. Coupled with an original and rhythmic guitar style is her
undeniable presence, offering listeners a rich and deeply musical
experience.
For over 20 years, Sharon Bousquet ("boo-skay") has
written and performed genre-bending songs, delighting audiences
and recording 3 CDs while raising a family and teaching singing
workshops the world over. Ms. Bousquet's first professional gig
took place in a nudist camp in Pennsylvania, singing torch ballads
and original reggae for 600 naked fans. Following a restless muse
led to addresses in places like Vancouver Canada, Maui Hawaii,
London England, Iowa City and Fairfield Iowa. In 1998, Santa Cruz
became home. Thanks to the Santa Cruz area's wallet-wrenching
cost of living, Sharon is now happily based in the Hill Country
South of Austin, with very positive results.
Sharon Bousquet was nominated for a Humbie Award last November
in the "Rising Star, Female" Category by Humble Time
Radio. She was recently added to the selective MP3 artist's channel,
"1000 Women of MP3". Since it's October 2001 inception,
Sharon's web site at MP3 has become a stopping point for increasing
web traffic - over 5,000 hits in it's first two months of business.
She was also invited to perform with Girls 'n' Guitars at the
venerable Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas this past November. Showcasing
the best of Texas women musicians, Girls and Guitars is an ongoing
benefit project for the Sons. The event was recorded and selected
tracks will soon be released as a compilation CD.
Sharon Bousquet performs around Texas in a duo with extraordinary
fretless bassist Carl LoSchiavo, and as a solo artist while on
the road. In February of this year, she completed a 26-day, self-promoted
tour of California and Texas with a return tour lined up for early
June. For a full tour schedule, go to Sharon's award-winning web
site: www.sharonbousquet.com. Ms. Bousquet is presently in pre-production
for her fourth studio recording, tentatively titled "Strangers
in the Light". All prayers accepted for a release date in
the fall of 2002.
